Les Aventures d'une Baroudeuse en carton // Tales of a Novice Adventurer.
Martha et moi quittons Tekapo en stop. Un couple de colombiens nous embarque pour Christchurch. Ils étudient l’anglais ici et comptent s’installer en Nouvelle Zélande. Alors qu’ils nous parlent des spécialités culinaires de Colombie, je salive sur la banquette arrière. Mon avion décolle dans 5 jours depuis Christchurch et je prévois de faire une escapade à Kaikoura et une autre à Akaroa.
Ce matin-là je remonte l’artère principale de Wanaka, afin de trouver le meilleur spot pour faire du stop. Je repense à mes derniers instants à Wanaka, notamment cette française rencontrée au Hollys Backpacker qui m’a reconnue grâce à l’article paru sur PVTistes.net. J’ai du mal à y croire, une inconnue avait lu mes aventures… ! Ça m’a regonflée à bloc en estime et je suis plutôt confidente quant à la suite.
Je lève ma pancarte pour Mount Cook qui se situe à un peu plus de deux heures de trajet d’ici.
Bali, c’est fini. Je rentre à la maison. Oui, la Nouvelle Zélande c’est ma maison. A l’aéroport de Queenstown, grosse surprise, mon homonyme m’attend patiemment, avec pancarte, sourires et câlins !

When I get into my dry and warm sleeping bag this night, my body all sore and achy, I still can’t believe I did it. I still can’t believe I made it through this day. For most people it doesn’t seem much to hike this amount of time in a chaotic weather, they’re used to hike anyway no matter the weather. However, for me, it’s a giant step.
I used to talk about it early this year. In 2016, I wanted to try a hike, from start to finish, all by myself. Settled in Te Anau, the Kepler Track soon became both an evidence and a new goal. My first month working as a Kitchen Hand allows me to have enough money to pay for a Great Walk.

In March, I already knew it, I had to say goodbye to Te Anau. I quitted my Banana Girl job at the Fresh Juice on March 11th, planned a weekend in Dunedin, then a 4 days hike on the Kepler Track, followed by a 2 days hike on the Routeburn Track and finally my flight from Queenstown to Denpasar was booked for March 27th.

Ex-libraire, boulimique d’images et de rêveries en papier. Reconvertie en agent de voyages adepte de nouveaux horizons. Reconvertie en apprentie baroudeuse. Baroudeuse en carton depuis 2015 en Nouvelle-Zélande, au Japon, à Bali, à Singapour, à Taïwan, à Hong-Kong, en Equateur et au Mexique. J’ai chopé la bougeotte et je compte bien ne pas m’arrêter là.

Novice Adventurer since 2015 in New Zealand, Japan, Bali, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong-Kong, Ecuador and Mexico. I caught the travel bug and I won’t stop anytime soon.
