Tokyo's Moomin Café

Amongst the weird-but-so-cool things I wanted to try in Japan, there was

THE MOOMIN CAFE!

(Lire cet article en Français!)

The concept is pretty simple: you get to take your coffee in a completely Moomin Universe, and also with stuffed Moomins sitting at your table! Since I’m on my own today, this place turns out to be perfect for a date. With a Moomin.

I soon realized that Moomin are really something here in Japan. My Couchsurfing host in Tokyo, Agata, loves them (Ok, she’s Polish so she knows The Moomins pretty well), and there are few Moomin Shops in the city and even an entire fashion collection at UniQlo’s .

The Café is located in a completely loony place, a kind of mall/attraction park with a huge rollercoaster in the middle of the city. WTF?!

For my breakfast, I choose randomly two pastries and a hot chocolate. I sat down in front of Daddy Moomin and enjoy his company. He’s not very talkative, though. This whole scene is completely strange and really funny at the same time. This is typically japanese indeed. At some point, a waitress took back Daddy Moomin. Everybody in the café wants to enjoy his company, there’s a turnover, you see. Short time after that, she brought me the Kangaroo which I don’t recall the name and I finished my meal in his lovely fluffy company.

This crazy experience was definitely worth the try, at least for the two yummy cakes I had (and also for the Moomin Shop inside).

Let’s go there!:

Moomin Bakery  & Café, Tokyo Dôme LaQua, Suido Bashi station, Chuo Line.

Ah mince on peut pas éditer les commentaire. Concept ayant déjà été utilisé j’aimerais le remplacé par “manger face a une pelluche quand on a pas ses potes dans la poche”
